San Jose, CA – The Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC), the leading organization dedicated to transforming the business of law, today announced a transition in its staff leadership. Betsi Roach, who has served as CLOC’s Executive Director since May 2020, is stepping down to pursue her next endeavor.

CLOC is grateful to Roach for her many contributions during her tenure as CLOC’s first executive director. Roach joined CLOC shortly after the emergence of the global COVID-19 pandemic and resulting shutdown, as the world was grappling with the transition to virtual workplaces and uncertainty about the future. She helped CLOC and its members through a seamless transition to this new environment, including successfully reimagining CLOC’s flagship annual ecosystem event, the CLOC Global Institute, for an interactive, virtual format.

“Betsi Roach has been a valued member of the CLOC leadership team, coming to us at a crucial pivot point for CLOC and all similar organizations facing down a sudden and unprecedented worldwide pandemic,” said Mike Haven, CLOC’s President and Head of Legal Operations at Intel. “Our members greatly appreciate all Betsi has done to ensure CLOC not only survived the pandemic and shutdown, but ultimately flourished.”

Before joining CLOC, Roach held several other leadership roles in the legal industry, including Executive Director of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), Director of the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL), and Practice Development Manager with Farella Braun + Martel, LLP. Roach is pleased with all the progress made at CLOC during her tenure, as she reflects upon the tumultuous global environment that greeted her arrival.

“While it is difficult to leave this organization, the team and our members, the time is right. I am proud that I successfully completed my objective to leave CLOC in a better place after the peak of the pandemic, to strengthen our operational capabilities and to build a world-class team to support CLOC’s mission,” said Roach. “CLOC’s membership has grown considerably, and we worked hard to deliver increased value to match that explosive growth, including an improved digital experience and educational offerings. CLOC is in good hands and well placed for continued success.”

Lisa Konie, a founding member of CLOC and longtime member of the board of directors, will assume the role of Interim Executive Director until Roach’s successor is announced.
