Award-Winning Journalist, Lisa Ling to Deliver Keynote at CLOC Institute

SAN JOSE, CA, March 27, 2019 — The Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC), the leader in professional development that optimizes operational excellence for in-house legal teams, today announced that Lisa Ling, award-winning journalist and executive producer and host of the critically-acclaimed CNN original series, “This is Life with Lisa Ling” will be the celebrity keynote at CLOC’s 2019 Vegas Institute. The two and a half day event will take place at Bellagio Las Vegas from May 14-16, 2019.

“The CLOC Institute brings the entire legal ecosystem together to innovate and discover initiatives that impact our industry, while attendees connect with industry peers, hear thought leader views and discover the latest cutting-edge technology providers,” said Mike Haven, CLOC board member. “Lisa Ling’s dedication to uncovering some of the world’s most important issues has been a cornerstone of her distinguished career and an important value we share across our legal industry. We are very excited to hear her stories and share her adventures.”

Lisa Ling was the executive producer and host of Our America on OWN, a field correspondent for the Oprah Winfrey Show and a contributor to ABC News’ Nightline and National Geographic’s Explorer. She reported from around the world, covering stories ranging from gang rape in the Congo to bride burning in India to the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda.

Ling got her start in journalism as a correspondent for Channel One News where she covered the civil war in Afghanistan at 21 years of age. She later went to become a co-host of ABC Daytime’s hit show The View, which won its first daytime Emmy during her time at the show.

Ling was a special correspondent for CNN’s Planet in Peril series and is a contributing editor for USA Today’s USA Weekend magazine. She is the co-author of Mother, Sister. Daughter, Bride: Rituals of Womanhood, and Somewhere Inside: One Sister’s Captivity in North Korea and The Other’s Fight to Bring Her Home that she penned with her sister Laura.

In addition to the celebrity keynote, legal operations professionals attending the CLOC Institute will have the opportunity to participate in more than 70 breakout sessions focused on excellence in legal operations through the utilization of the CLOC 12 Core Competencies.
