CLOC New 2027 Councils

CLOC Opens Largest Volunteer Leadership Recruitment in its History

Expanded councils, committees, and group leadership roles give more members a voice in where legal operations goes next

SAN JOSE, CA, October 6, 2026 – CLOC (Corporate Legal Operations Consortium) today opened applications for its 2027 volunteer leadership roles, the largest volunteer expansion in its history. With three new councils, three new committees, more group leadership roles, and open seats on the CLOC Board of Directors, the initiative promotes expanded inclusivity, giving more members a direct role in shaping what comes next for the profession.

“Legal operations professionals around the world have more ways than ever to make their voices heard and contribute to our profession,” said Laura Dieudonné, Chair of the CLOC Board of Directors, and Legal Operations and Administration Director at Delta Air Lines. “Our volunteers will be able to share their expertise and sound, practical guidance, and that’s how we build the next generation of legal ops professionals.”

CLOC encourages applications from across the legal ecosystem, from seasoned leaders to earlier-career professionals with relevant experience, interest, or perspective.

For members, these roles are a way to give back, build leadership experience, share expertise, and learn from peers. For CLOC, they bring a wider range of firsthand experience into the programs, resources, and priorities it develops for the broader community.

“Members have always built CLOC. Our volunteers are the reason members feel so connected, from a regional meetup in Singapore to a peer group in higher education,” said Oyango Snell, President and CEO of CLOC. “As the profession grows and AI changes how legal departments work, we need more perspectives at the table.”

“In our latest member survey, nearly 9 in 10 members said they want to help shape CLOC, and nearly 30% want a volunteer leadership role,” said LaToya Tapscott, VP of Membership & Strategic Partnerships at CLOC. “One application opens the door to dozens of roles, from leading a regional group to helping set standards for the LOCP certification. Wherever you are in your career, there’s a place for you to lead.”

Expanded leadership opportunities for 2027

CLOC is growing its council structure from three councils to six. Councils help guide CLOC’s long-term priorities for the organization and the legal operations profession. Existing councils include the Education Advisory Council, the Inclusion & Social Impact Council, and the Voice & Brand Council.

Three new councils will launch in 2027:

  • Professional Advancement & Leadership Development Council, focused on defining career paths and leadership growth for legal operations professionals.
  • Technology & Innovation Council, focused on turning developments in AI, data, and new technology into practical guidance for legal operations teams.
  • Global Advisory Council, which will bring perspectives from legal markets around the world into CLOC’s plans and priorities.

CLOC is also recruiting members for four committees that support defined areas of the organization’s work:

  • Membership & Engagement Committee, new for 2027, focused on improving how members join, participate in, and get value from CLOC.
  • Certification Advisory Committee, new for 2027, which will help set standards and policies for the LOCP certification.
  • Legal Department Maturity Assessment Program (LDMAP) Committee, which helps keep CLOC’s legal department maturity model and assessment tools current.
  • Core Awards Review Committee, new for 2027, which will review nominations and recommend finalists and winners for the CLOC Core Awards, to be recognized at the CLOC Global Institute in Las Vegas in May of 2027.

The recruitment effort also includes leadership opportunities across CLOC’s member groups:

  • Regional Groups connect members locally. Leadership roles span programming, membership, sponsorship, operations, and communications across the United States and in CLOC groups in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and Singapore.
  • Communities of Practice connect members who work in the same industry or specialty, including financial services, higher education, insurance, intellectual property, legal project management, nonprofits, and more.
  • Community Circles give members who share an identity or life experience a place to connect through Black@CLOC, Latino@CLOC, Asian & Pacific Islander@CLOC, Pride@CLOC, Women Rising@CLOC, ABLE@CLOC, and NextGen@CLOC.

Three directors who are legal operations professionals complete their terms on December 31, 2026. CLOC is seeking legal operations professionals to fill those seats. The Board also includes legal service providers and other members of the legal ecosystem, whose seats are not open this cycle. The Board sets CLOC’s direction and oversees the organization’s governance and finances. Individuals may nominate themselves or a colleague.

How to apply

Applications open October 6, 2026, and close October 31, 2026. Members can submit a single application and indicate interest in multiple councils, committees, and group leadership roles. Board nominations use a separate form and election process.

On October 14, 2026, CLOC will host an informational webinar led by Stacy Lettie, Chair Elect of the CLOC Board of Directors and VP, Legal Innovation & Transformation at Johnson & Johnson. Stacy has also served CLOC as a regional leader and council member. She will answer questions and share her perspective on volunteer service.
