CLOC Thanks Outgoing Board Leaders and Establishes Nominating Committee for 2025

San Jose, CA, December 23, 2024 — CLOC (Corporate Legal Operations Consortium), the leading legal operations member community, today announced transitions within its Board of Directors, recognizing the contributions of three outgoing board members and outlining plans for the next phase of leadership.

Stepping down at the conclusion of their most recent three-year terms are Farrah Pepper, CLOC Vice President, and Dan Yi, who also co-led the Education Advisory Committee. Additionally, Mike Haven, former president, elected to wrap up his board term early to focus on his new role as Global Head of Legal Operations at Meta.

Mike Haven joined the board in 2019 and served as CLOC President through a period of transformative growth. During his presidency, Haven guided the organization through the challenges of the pandemic, successfully extending its global reach and reinforcing its role as a leader in legal operations. Known for his forward-thinking leadership, Haven championed initiatives that enhanced member engagement, streamlined operations, and positioned CLOC for sustained success. Over the past year, he continued to serve as a board member, providing mentorship and support.

Farrah Pepper, Chief Legal Innovation Counsel at Marsh McLennan, joined the board in 2021 after leading the CLOC New York Regional Group and became Vice President in 2023. A strategic powerhouse known for her vision, energy, and creativity, she drove initiatives that expanded CLOC’s impact and value for members, including the relaunch of the State of the Industry survey. Pepper significantly advanced thought leadership within the CLOC community, sharing her expertise at the Global Institute and other key forums.

Dan Yi, a senior government official and lecturer at Harvard Law School, was elected to the board in 2021 and brought a strong focus on education and professional development. As a steady leader and collaborator, he played a key role in shaping CLOC’s Education Advisory Council, building the framework for the recently released CLOC Academy. Known for his generosity as a presenter and mentor, Yi has been a consistent source of expertise and guidance for CLOC members.

“These three leaders have each brought something truly unique to CLOC’s evolution,” said Jenn McCarron, CLOC President. “They’ve challenged us to think differently and raised the bar for not only what CLOC, but legal ops professionals can accomplish. I am deeply grateful for their passion and all they’ve contributed to our organization. We look forward to witnessing their continued and long-lasting impact to the CLOC community.”

To ensure a smooth leadership transition, the CLOC Board has established a Nominating Committee, which will include newly appointed Executive Director Oyango Snell.

“It’s an exciting time for CLOC,” said Snell. “As we gear up for our 10th year, I’m eager to help put rigor into the process and work to honor our past leaders like Mike, Farrah and Dan while welcoming new voices and perspectives to the Board who reflect our growing and diverse legal ecosystem.”

The committee will oversee the nomination, application and selection process for new board members, with details to be announced in January 2025.
