Legal Ops Leaders Converge in Sydney for 2025 CLOC Australia Summit, Championing Innovation and Connection
Sydney, Australia – 21 August 2025 – The CLOC Australia Summit, held on 20 August in Sydney, brought together 150 participants from across the region for a comprehensive program addressing the evolving landscape of legal operations. Attendees explored topics ranging from career growth and the evolution of legal operations, leveraging generative AI and emerging tech, to driving change and embracing adaptability.
“CLOC is about community, and this year’s theme, ‘Open New Doors,’ underscored our dedication to revitalizing connections within the region,” said Matt Duncan, Australia Group Co-Lead, CLOC and Head of Legal Operations, Transurban. “By strengthening these ties, we can better embrace new approaches, enhance efficiency, and collectively work to transform the global legal landscape.”
A highlight of the event was the keynote address by documentary creator, television presenter, adventurer, and business leader Todd Sampson, who is best known as the writer and host of “Redesign My Brain,” wove in themes on innovation and human potential. Sampson shared practical ways to boost creativity and brain power using techniques grounded in cutting-edge science.
“Our community is small but mighty, and this event was a testament to our strength and commitment. It reinforced the value of coming together to advance our profession,” said Katrina Gowans, CLOC Australia Group Co-Lead.
Gowans and Duncan collaborated with Anna Golovsky, CLOC’s Australia Group Co-Lead and Executive Manager, Legal and Company Secretariat Operations, IAG, and the CLOC Education Advisory Council (EAC) to curate the program; all contributed to sessions and shared their on-the-ground experience from the stage.
A pre-event CLOC Academy was held the day prior on 19 August at Allens’ Sydney Office, bringing together legal ops leaders to attend CLOC’s Core 12 Curriculum courses, which are career-aligned and designed to build essential skills and deepen expertise.
“Our focus is clear: expanding perspectives, advancing careers, and empowering the regional ecosystem with the insights and connections needed to thrive,” said Adam Becker, CLOC board member, lead of CLOC’s EAC and Director of Legal Operations at Cockroach Labs. “This year’s Summit introduced fresh formats and forward-thinking topics, all designed to help legal ops leaders expand their impact and shape the future of legal operations across the region.”
CLOC extends its gratitude to the Australia Program Committee Members, speakers, and participants for making the Summit a memorable and impactful gathering. Thanks also go to the event sponsors: AllyOne, Morae, Relativity, Axiom, Legora, Workday, powered by Evisort AI, Zoho, Luminance, NetDocuments and Pinsent Masons.
The organization now looks ahead to the CLOC España Summit in Madrid, which will take place on 2 October, continuing the conversation and fostering connections within the global legal ops community.
