Las Vegas, NV — May 12, 2022: The Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (“CLOC”) wrapped up its CLOC Global Institute (“CGI”) today in Las Vegas, closing out the group’s largest-ever in-person gathering with a forward-looking session focused on the future of the fast-growing legal operations industry.
At the conference’s opening session, CLOC Board President Mike Haven, Head of Legal Operations and Associate General Counsel at Intel, had celebrated the extraordinary growth of legal operations as “an industry within an industry” in recent years as corporate legal departments have looked to technology and innovation to help organizations meet their goals.
Haven noted that the legal operations profession, along with the law firms, service providers, tech vendors and academic institutions who engage with its practitioners, has become a thriving global ecosystem, saying, “Today, we have business after business, organization after organization, specializing in legal operations.”
Underscoring Haven’s remarks, nearly 2500 enthusiastic CGI participants generated over 88,000 social media impressions from the conference and sponsors reported constant foot-traffic and a steady stream of sales inquiries and requests for product demonstrations in the Exhibit Hall featuring 105 vendors and service providers.
“CLOC began as a marketplace of ideas, where practitioners in the newly emerging field of legal operations could share and best practices focused on transforming the business and practice of law,” said CLOC Executive Director Betsi Roach. “We’re thrilled to see CGI emerge as a literal marketplace as well, where the latest in legal operations technology and services are on offer. 2490 people joined us for this year’s Global Institute. Our sell-out capacity was 2500. So we like to think that those 10 available seats represent CLOC’s openness to even more continued growth.”
