Sydney, Australia–23 August 2024: The CLOC APAC Summit, held on 20-21 August in Sydney, gathered 170 participants from across the APAC region for a comprehensive program that addressed the evolving landscape of legal operations. The sessions covered topics ranging from managing cyber risks and leveraging generative AI to driving change and embracing adaptability.

“It feels incredible to be here with you all in Sydney,” opened Jenn McCarron, CLOC President, expressing her excitement at returning to the region after a five-year hiatus. “CLOC is about community, and today’s theme, ‘Recharge: Reconnecting the Regional Ecosystem,’ underscores our dedication to revitalizing connections within APAC. By strengthening these ties, we can better embrace new approaches, enhance efficiency, and collectively work to transform the legal landscape.”

Katrina Gowans, CLOC Australia Group Co-Lead, highlighted the significance of the Summit in her remarks, “Our APAC community is small but mighty, and this event is a testament to our strength and commitment. It underscores the importance of coming together to advance our profession.” Fellow Co-Leads Anna Golovsky and Matt Duncan worked closely with Katrina and the CLOC Education Advisory Council to curate the Summit’s program and actively contributed to sessions, including “The Future of Legal Operations,” sharing their expertise from the stage.

“Our APAC community is small but mighty, and this event is a testament to our strength and commitment.”

A high point of the Summit was the keynote address by globally renowned speaker and master interviewer Holly Ransom, CEO of Emergent Global. Ransom’s keynote presentation focused on leading through change by adopting courageous mindsets.

“The engagement at this year’s CLOC APAC Summit was terrific. We had attendees travel from India, Malaysia, and even Singapore to attend–demonstrating the expansion of the role and the desire to connect with colleagues globally,” said Lisa Konie, Executive Director and one of CLOC’s founding members. “I loved the focus on increasing the strategic contributions of legal operations. I hope the insights and connections made here will help attendees drive innovation and strategy within their organizations.”

CLOC thanks its APAC Program Committee Members, speakers, sponsors, and participants for making the Summit a memorable and impactful gathering. Next up, the CLOC EMEA Summit will take place in London on 21-22 October 2024, continuing the conversation and fostering connections within the global legal ops community.
