2018 CLOC Scholarship Application

About the Scholarship:

This scholarship is for graduate degree (J.D., MBA, and other) students who have a business/metrics driven focus as it relates to the practice of law or have demonstrated an interest in Legal Operations. Candidates interested in the business of managing in-house legal department operations and driving the evolution of legal service delivery models are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship(s) are up to $10,000 each. Up to four recipients will be selected each year. The scholarship grant may only be used for educational expenses such as tuition, course materials, books, etc.

An applicant can only receive the scholarship one time.

An applicant may reapply for the scholarship if they have not previously been awarded the scholarship.If you have any questions, contact info@cloc.org.


To be eligible, you must: (1) be a current or entering student at an accredited graduate university in the United States and (2) be interested in pursuing a career in Legal Operations or business/metrics driven focus in the field of law.

How to Apply:

Complete the online form by the application deadline – March 15, 2018.

Your application must include:

  • An essay about yourself and your interest in a career in Legal Operations (attachment)
  • An up-to-date resume (attachment)
  • A copy of your undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) transcript (attachment)
  • Your University Financial Aid Office contact information (email and phone number)
  • Your personal financial need information

Scholarship Dates:

Applications must be submitted no later than March 15, 2018.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by mid-May and the grant will be paid out at the beginning of the 2018-2019 academic year.

Judging Criteria:

The scholarship will be awarded to the most promising applicants whose essays best show a genuine interest in a Legal Operations career and the evolution of legal service delivery models. The Committee will also consider prior work experience in Legal Operations or related fields.
